Description:

Cement, mucilage, glue, and paste are all terms that are frequently used interchangeably to describe any organic material that forms an adhesive bond. Latex adhesives are manufactured from polyvinyl acetate, a thermoplastic, odourless, tasteless, non-toxic, virtually transparent and colourless resin. Fevicol type adhesives are synthetic resins. It has a non-crystalline, branched structure rather than a linear one. The molecular weight distribution of most resin grades is fairly broad. They soften over a temperature spectrum rather than melting. Sunlight, ultraviolet light, and air have little effect on the resin, and it can absorb a small amount of water.

Polyvinyl acetate is non-corrosive and non-toxic. Many polyvinyl acetate resins, solutions, and emulsions are treated as commodity products by the adhesives industry due to their low cost, ready availability, strong compatibility, and excellent adhesive characteristics. The majority of variations in physical properties between polyvinyl acetate grades are due to molecular weight. Adhesives come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and they can be synthetic or natural. The word "synthetic adhesive" refers to an adhesive made of synthetic chemicals like synthetic resin.

These adhesives can be used in high-speed machinery in the paper conversion and packaging industries, and they can also be used as wood adhesives. Polyvinyl acetate is now used in adhesives for a variety of purposes, including:-
